Τhis is the newest version of the excellent Path of the Waterfalls Hania-Makrirachi. The final section of the walk, after the last waterfall at Kavouria, follows a narrow and steep path on the wild northern bank of the Mega Rema gorge (via ''Stefania''), thus avoiding completely the boring earth road on the south bank via Panagitsa chapel. Of course we can always follow the older, easier route if we choose to. Approaching Makrirachi, a signpost indicates a short detour to visit the high rock of ''Aetofolia'' (''Eagle`s nest''), an excellent view point. Time 5 hours with stops. Signed with red paint and round yellow signs. We can return to Hania taking the bus from Makrirachi at 17.15 daily (18.00 in the summer season mid June to mid September. At Makrirachi there is a restaurant at the square and also a hotel.
ATTENTION! UPDATE: The path via Stefania- Aetofolia is difficult to follow because of landslides and overgrown vegetation - it is strongly advisable to take the other route via Panagitsa chapel on earth road. See the older route via Panagitsa on Wikiloc
