The church of Aghios Konstantinos
On the Eastern side of Argonauts Street is the park of Aghios Konstantinos which leads to the magnificent Church of Aghios Konstantinos, on the esplanade.
Legend has it that, before the city of Volos was even founded, on the site where the first Church of Aghios Konstantinos and Helen was eventually built, there was, originaly, a stone-built pilgrimage dedicated to the two saints. With the creation of the district of Aghios Konstantinos, a wooden church was built in 1898 while the modern one, designed by architect Aristotle Zachos, was inaugurated in 1936.
It is worth visiting it for a walk by the sea, which, in true local fashion, will invariably bring you to the nearby taverns for tsipouro (local alcoholic beverage) and tasty appetizers.
