Volos Archaeological Museum
The Volos Archaeological Museum, also known as the Athanasakeio Archaeological Museum, is one of the oldest museums in Greece.
Built in 1909 with money donated by Alexios Athanasakis, of Portaria, Pelion, it is an 870-square meter single storey neoclassical building, with eight galleries housing the museum's collection of archaeological finds from all over Thessaly, from the Paleolithic to the Roman years.
